Diet during a relapse of nephrotic syndrome- Trigger cold
The last blog i published was on the day of relapse. While I did follow taking the snakeguard extract I also noticed few things. I just thought it will help ppl like me who are trying to help their kids get better without getting into predinosolone. I also noticed another blog that has mentioned taking a piece of Garlic during relapse helps to keep the protein loss under control. I gave it to my son only once though along with the snakeguard juice. Few things that I observed :
1. Relapse happened after he catched cold. Not on the same day but 3 days later
2. On the day of protein dipstick turning green , he took sweets that had ghee and made of dairy.
3. After taking snakeguard juice the immediate next 2 urine were protein negative.
4. Later he still had trace in his protein.
5. During a relapse,Whenever he took foods rich in protein the trace was sure to come.
6. We cut down everything and kept his diet as plain rice, boiled vegetables with turmeric and pepper with little salt( very little) plus Rasam.(either normal pepper rasam or horsegram one). Fruits as well but to be controlled as he has cold and congestion
7. Whenever he has rice veggies and fruits occasionally the urine dipstick would turn yellow and whenver i gave him Dosa or other grains he would have a trace. This happened foro 2 days. For next 2 days i kept him only on rice and veggies.
8. on 4th day he completely turned negative. While i was keeping him on rice and veggies I also was home treating him for the cold
9. 3 times steam. I applied gingely oil to Beatle leaves heated it on a low flame and kept on his chest to loosen the congestion which was severe.
10. I made a concotion out of 1 beatle leave 7 crushed pepper, turmeric , jeera, coriander powder ,boiled in 1.5 liter of water to half and then made him drink( note no honey or salt).
11. gave 5 ml of solvin cold just once to help him expell the congestion.
12. From 5th day when we were very sure his antibodies have settled down. We started on normal diet just avoiding wheat and dairy.
on the 6th day he was due for a regular checkup. Doctor told us not to keep him with cold for so long and if the urine diptick turns 1+ to quickly start on predinosolone so that he doesnot have to take more when condition becomes serious. He told all the respiratiry virus pass through urine and thats why a relapse happens when there is an infection. So the theory of immune diregulation holds true for nephrotic syndrome. WHen a relapse happens at times when there is no infection, i think the theory of heat imbalance may hold good. Anyways the tough week has come to an end with Tacrolimus still helping my kid.
